An easy to make firefighter hose nozzle with water.

Firefighter Hose Craft

This is a great craft for firefighter themed programs for toddlers or preschoolers. There is a minimal amount of materials, and assembly is simple. Decoration can be done with many forms of media such as paint, crayons, or glue-on decorations. The children in our classes had fun using them for the "fire calls" which occurred during class.

Materials

  • cardboard tube - you can use a standard paper towel roll tube though its strength/durability will be limited. We are fortunate to have access to tubes which are a little stronger. It is advisable to keep the tubes short (under 12") to keep any sword fighting tendencies to a minimum.
  • blue tissue paper: this is used as the water. A piece about 10" long can be rolled up and just stuffed into the end of the tube. If it is thick enough it can be jammed into the tube tightly and it should stay.

Instructions

  • After decorating and dry the tissue "water" is just stuffed into the end of the tube. Now all your little firefighters are ready for action.
